Exhibition Details
A TRIO of Brisbane-based artists has joined forces to promote their art in the wake of the virus restrictions that have hit the artistic community hard.
Eri Yamaguchi, Yuiko Uto and Tanya Ashworth created exhibition Fusion to celebrate their love of detail and their desire for a wider audience to enjoy their works.
* Eri uses pen and ink to create finely-detailed illustrations. She combines lines, intriguing shapes and patterns in her art. Eri’s work is inspired by Japanese culture, spirituality, nature and art.
Her work Whale Guardians of Ocean made it to the final of the coveted Lethbridge Gallery awards this year.
Recent works have featured the koala.
βShe is peacefully wandering in her dream, protected by the amazing Australian nature. The abstract eucalyptus presents wild strength and a connection to the beginning of life,β Eri says.
* Buttons Ink artist Yuiko Uto has currently been exploring the vagaries of lockdown life with a series of thought-provoking illustrations.
Yuiko transforms life experiences into fun, carefree metaphorical art. She makes sense of the past through art. She is branching out in the arts world after working in design in Tokyo and 10 years as a stay-at-home mum.
She is happy to explore commissioned work, illustration projects, design concepts and collaborations.
Describing her work as art to share and wear, Yuiko says she uses her art to revel in the tall tales and small details of life.
She is inspired by Japanese folklore and fairy tales, family, nature and symbolism.
* Tanya Ashworth focuses on art mediums such as digital, acrylic, porcelain and gouache. She enjoys paint blends, and playing with depth and light to achieve an airbrush-quality finish.
Her use of many layers and shadows create the illusion of 3D.
Aspire Gallery selected her work Petite Pieces this year and one of her paintings will feature in the Brisbane Grammar School Online Art Show in July.
Tanya loves developing and tailoring new styles of illustrative works to increase customer interest and to challenge herself.
Fusion runs Tuesday-Friday 9.30am-3pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-1pm from June 14 until July 3, 2020.
